# Set up the mobile app

The first time you open Warhorn, the app asks for permissions needed to deliver alarms.

## iPhone and iPad

1. Allow notifications when iOS asks.
2. Allow Warhorn to schedule alarms.
3. If you use a Focus mode, add Warhorn to its allowed apps when you want alarms to break through that Focus mode.

You can change notification access later in **Settings > Notifications > Warhorn**.

## Android

1. Allow notifications when Android asks.
2. Disable battery optimization for Warhorn so Android can deliver alerts while the app is in the background.
3. Add Warhorn as a Do Not Disturb exception if you want alerts during Do Not Disturb.

Android settings differ by device manufacturer. Search your device settings for "battery optimization" or "Do Not Disturb" if the menu names do not match.

## Before creating an alarm

Make sure your device has an internet connection and Warhorn can send notifications. You do not need to connect a crypto wallet.
